Hello folks, sorry about the absence.... I am sat at my desk feeling bone tired after an exhausting long couple of days. I left the office on Tuesday afternoon and drove down to Essex, the drive was long but ok and got to my old house around 9ish. Called in to see Dan and Kellie (Oddness blog) on the way. After a few hours of sleep and getting ready it was off to London. Left home at 6am....

The day was hosted by GovToday and was held at Church House in Westminster. The building was superb and the staff were so helpful. I listened to a presentation on the NCS and NHS and how everything was changing. How the country is struggling to provide after retirement care and what they intend to do about it.

The reason for retirement issues is this, when the state pension was introduced, retirement age was 65 and the average life expectancy was 66. Now the children being born are expected to live to around 120. which means the pensions far from having to see someone through for 1 year we can expect it to have to support someone for 60 years plus. This also alters the ratio of working people to retired people. Again when it started the ratio was 5 or 6 working people to every one retired person, now it is at 4 working to 1 person retired, and by 2026 they expect it to fall to 2 to 1. All in all the government solution is this, make the NHS or NCS as I understand it will become... more efficient, and reduce staff levels. Centralise controls and try to support more people at home rather than hospitals. Oh, and more preventative measures. Stop people getting ill and hurting themselves, relieve the burden on the NHS... It will be interesting to see how all this is planned to go ahead.

Anyhow after a day of drinking superb coffee, and strolling around talking to people it was time to head home. Left Westminster about 16:30 and walked through my front door at about 23:45 after driving through snow, sleet, fog, rain... what a lovely day....

So today I am sat here, my bones ache with the standing, driving and tiredness... I cant wait to get home and have a soak in the bath.

Be Well....
