Coca Cola
Now, these days I am into Christmas, not massively over the top into Christmas like some of my friends but I actually have begun to enjoy the holiday season again, I think it is now due to the fact that I have kids. Or maybe not, but for whatever the reason it is a time when I am happier.
Now don't get me wrong, this post is not about Coca Cola, although to be fair it could be. The Holidays Are Coming, is now so iconic that when the advert finally hits our TVs Christmas has officially arrived! It is a stunning advertising campaign, and one (although sometimes I want to rant about commercial companies telling us about a religious holiday) that even I have begun to enjoy. I find myself humming or singing it under my breath as the big day approaches. In short, I have accepted it as part of what now has become a tradition. So well done Coca-Cola.
(I know I am a year late on this post by the way... just thought I would point it out before Dan does)

I was walking past Starbucks the other day when I spotted this poster outside
I stopped and starred, and at once my mind went to the Coca-Cola advert. Its big red and shiny and now is trying to tell us Christmas is here, much in the same way Coca-Cola does but without the flashing lights, feel good father Christmas and catchy jingle. For a brief second (well OK for about 2 hours) I was filled with rage. I went around turning it over in my head, muttering under my breath about it, calling the advertising people at Shitbucks Starbucks all kinds of names. I was incandescent with rage. I wanted to tell Coca-Cola that the coffee house had stolen there advertising campaign. I wanted to smash the shop up, how dare they. Whats more, this is not at the end of November, oh no, its not even in December, but rather its the 4th of November they have come out with them. They now all have big posters saying our red cups are here.
After thinking about it for a bit and calming down, I suddenly realised that although it outraged me I have now spent a day thinking about them, and what is more have now blogged about it too upping there public profile even more. Drawing yet more attention to there product. Whats more, there advertising company probably got paid a packet for that campaign, and guess what all they did was copy someone elses! Good lads, that is the way to work, do absolutely nothing and charge a multimillion pound company bundles for it! I want a job with them.

When all is said and done I reckon there is probably more companies out there copying Coca-Colas fabled advertising campaign, just I have not spotted them. If they do good luck to them, but I doubt any of them will become as big as Coca-Cola. They are the giants of the advertising campaigns. Stunning, simple and effective.

As for Starbucks, if they just made there coffee taste better I might even buy something off of them...
