A couple of weeks ago Kerry and I managed to offload get the children babysat for a whole night! This is quite unusual these days and we were determined to make the most of it. We decided we would have a date night, go out for a meal, the cinema and then onto the casino. We were planning it all week and getting very excited! We were going to see Hunger Games, then either eat at Tiffins in Southend and go on to the Casino, or eat at the Casino depending on time. Plan set, money sorted (Casino can be expensive!) Children sat with, house to ourselves afterwards.... Excellent!
The day arrived and I went off to work and Kerry headed off to football, our normal weekend lives. Numerous texts were exchanged between us throughout the day, the anticipation of an 'adult night out' on our own was building.
We dumped dropped the brats children off at the in laws and started getting ready. Washed, shaved, dressed, hair trimmed, sorted.... we were both looking good! (Well Kerry always looks good, but I made a big effort).
Now this is where Kerry does what Kerry does.... as we are leaving she announces:
Kerry :"I am hungry, can we eat first? "
Me: "Of course babes, I am hungry too. We will head to Tiffins."
Kerry: "I fancy Italian, but we can have Indian if you prefer"
For those who don't know, this is a trap.... it really means I WANT ITALIAN!
After some further deliberation, we headed off to Azzurro in Westcliff a restaurant we knew nothing about but I had read some good reviews on line. On route to the restaurant Kerry is reading film reviews (from the cinema in Southend) that says Hunger Games is good, but there is 1 bad review, however, 21 Jump Street has no bad reviews. So starts another deliberation on what film we are going to see. I did suggest that as we were eating first and film times were later that perhaps heading straight to the casino instead of the cinema.... but no...
We arrived at Azzurro, and was sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant. It looked quite modern and nice and I thought we were OK. For those that don't know, Kerry and I are snobs, especially when it come to hotels and food.
I was mistaken.... the food was poor, the service was worse and they had sat us next to a party of 30 something diners, who all barged past the table, bumped into Kerry several times without as much as an excuse me or sorry. So this was not good... We will not be going there again and warning all our friends off of it.
So off to the cinema to see Hunger Games, I mean 21 Jump Street.... We arrived at the cinema and went to the toilets..... bad mistake, Kerry straight away hated the place, the premium seats were anything but premium, and they were stained and the theatre was appallingly dirty. To top this off, the film was poor, well I found it slightly funny, but Kerry did not, in any way or in any sense. So out of 2, 2 was a wipe out. Bad food, bad film.
Still off to the Casino! Although it was now 11ish at night and way past our bedtimes... We got to the Casino and bought a drink then headed off to the craps table (this is our favourite game). We joined as it was our turn to throw and I asked Kerry to throw for us. I was making bets and Kerry was throwing. We had a minor disagreement as Kerry was upset I had not asked her what she wanted to bet on, but we got over that. We played for a couple of hours and then headed off to home. Finishing the night about £25 down, which is not too bad!
We got home, had the house to ourselves, it was quiet and late.... we made our way upstairs, laid down on the bed.... and promptly fell asleep...
It sounds like we had a bad time, but we didn't... we laughed the whole way through the evening, even when we 'discussed' what we were doing. I love spending time with Kerry, and we cant wait to do it again, although hopefully this time with better food and films.... mental note to myself..... DO NOT LET KERRY PICK A FILM!
heeheeee
OK OK.... I know I'm crap at posting lol... So here is the year so far in a few words and pictures...
January was a bad and dark month for us... Firstly we got burgled and had cars stolen by the young arsehole Gentleman who lives opposite. He got caught after smashing up our car, and basically got a slap on the wrist from the courts... he stole most of our Christmas presents which have never been recovered. 1 thing to say.... Karma is a bitch!
On a much sadder note, we also lost Kerry's Nan this month. In the short time I had to know her she amazed me and I think fondly of her often. I know it was a huge blow to the family. Nan also seemed to have a special bond with Albert... I hope she is at peace and enjoying watching us all grow from afar.
Sorely Missed..... |
February.... as far as a I recall February passed by quite unnoticed... Work was quite stressful with Kerry being promoted and putting in long hours, home life was hectic... Albert started hauling himself upright and walking around hanging on to things and causing more mischief than I would have thought one person was capable of. One question, why is it babies eat electrical wires???
That brings us on to March.... what a hectic month. March is as busy in our house as Christmas, the Family has about 8 birthdays in March and it is also Kerry and my anniversary...
This March, Kathleen took part in a concert at the O2 and set yet another world record as well!!! Way to go girl!!! So proud of her. She has also achieved her Gold award in school. She is doing great.
Callum turned 14, he is improving across his school subjects and doing great with his football. His birthday was great fun at the skate park and I don't think anyone broke any bones... although there was a couple of close calls.
Brandon is Brandon, he just takes everything in his stride, doing great at school and his stropping off has calmed down a a bit!.
Albert has started climbing the stairs and enjoys to do this as often as he can! He is also almost walking and I don't think it will be long before he trots across the lounge.
It was also my Birthday this month and I was spoilt rotten by the whole family. I turned 35 and had a great time. I also won at the Casino!!! Kerry enrolled me on a photographic course, so I now have become even more annoying with the camera! Lol. It was the greatest present.
So that's the year to date in brief... Catch you all soon....
