So Albert James Mervyn Dennis arrived on the 27th June at 01:33 weighing in at 8lbs 2.5oz (3.7KG) he is now 1 week old!! Well done young man... (yes I am new at this, so will no doubt waffle on about how cute he is for ages... If you don't like this sort of thing check out Dan's blog, who waffles about everything, and moans a bit as well...)
The birth went well, with Kerry doing an amazing job, labour started at about 7:30 and was quite slow up till about 11, when it suddenly went into warp drive! An ambulance was called and we were deposited at Southend Hospital, the paramedics were good (even if the woman did threaten to hit me for asking Kerry if she was OK...) but the midwives were amazing! So calm, so matter of fact. Albert flew out into the world, and I think even caught the midwife out a little bit.I did get to cut the cord, which was very cool, if a little bit weird, cutting the 2 most precious things in your life with a pair of scissors. Anyhow, here he is at about 4 Min's old!

After the birth and the cuddles and congratulations and phone calls and texts and picture messages, to what was beginning to feel like the population of the UK, we all settled down. The midwives bought me in a mattress and a pillow, and I left Kerry and her mum to bond with little one as I quietly slept on the floor (Well, apparently I passed out almost straight away and snored so loudly that my future mother in law had to boot me as they couldn't hear what the midwife was saying!)
We came home via Grandads taxi service (Thanks Les) at about 6:30am and the first day passed in a bit of a daze, people filled through and said hello and congratulations, and day became night.. Then Albert woke up, he pretty much cried and fed between 10pm and 6am, all night...
In the morning he fed and then slept most of the day apart from when the midwifes came visiting and woke him up. That night pretty much more of the same with Albert feeding every hour and crying all night... I slept from about 3 till 7 but Kerry went straight through. Once he had breakfast, he slept once more and Kerry went to bed. This pattern has pretty  much gone on all week with one or two exceptions, he sleeps all day and feeds all night... People ask how much sleep we are getting... I just laugh and say sleep? I remember that...
Well Albert weighed in at 8lbs 4oz on day 5, and the midwives are amazed that he is being breast fed and has gained weight... I don't think it is amazing, they obviously haven't met Kerry, she is my super woman.
I am going to leave it here for now, Albert is one week old today and I am hoping for some sleep right now...

Stay safe.
